The Hearts' machine kept rolling on when the SPL leaders left with all three points from windy Inverness.

And the man on loan from Marseille, Rudi Skacel, maintained his amazing goal run by firing the Jambos into the lead in the first half, making the difference in the end.

Hearts began the game in predictably strong form, with Paul Hartley and big Edgar Jankauskas, in particular, looking lively.

Goalkeeper Mark Brown came to the rescue after nine minutes when he parried away a 30-yard power drive from Skacel.

Their strong start paid off when Tassis Fyssas launched a throw-in into the box and Skacel spun and buried a drive low beyond Brown into the far corner. That made it seven goals in seven games for the Czech midfielder. At this point it was all going according to script for the leaders.

Steven Pressley almost doubled the lead when he connected with a Skacel cross after 39 minutes, but nodded past the post.

Hearts were lucky to go in ahead after fortune favoured them before the break. A Darren Dods header for Inverness came off the post, and Craig Dargo knocked the ball home on the line but was flagged offside.

Chances were few and far between in the second half, with Caley Thistle working hard to quell the threats from the visitors, but were not getting much change from the well-drilled away back line.

After 66 minutes substitute Liam Fox steered a shot around the right post from a Craig Brewster set-piece.

In the latter stages the Highlanders had a real go, and a couple of corners caused panic in the box.

However, George Burley's high flyers made it seven straight wins to stay ahead of the pack.
