Celtic scored their 100th goal in this season's Scottish Premierleague but it came from a new source.

Teenager Aiden McGeady, making his first-team debut, took the honour when he opened the scoring after 17 minutes at Tynecastle.

But substitute Mark de Vries gave Hearts a deserved share of the spoils when he struck with a similar effort with 14 minutes left after Johan Mjallby had misjudged the ball and played the ball into his path.

Hearts had the first effort on goal when Kevin McKenna swung wildly from distance and the ball ballooned wide.

An Andy Kirk header was then well defended by Didier Agathe when David Marshall's goal came under its first serious threat.

But it was Celtic who went ahead shortly afterwards. Alan Maybury gave away a needless free-kick and Stilian Petrov's kick found its way to McGeady at the back post and he drilled a low shot into the net off the post.

Kirk wasted a great chance to get Hearts level in the 31st minute when Patrick Kisnorbo sent him clear.

Marshall was out quickly to block his initial shot but Kirk then swiped his follow-up shot over the top with a vacant goal to aim at.

Celtic only had two efforts on goal in the first half and both came from 18 year-old McGeady.

He delivered his second ten minutes from the break when Petrov fed him at the edge of the area but he shot straight at Craig Gordon.

Hearts had another chance just before half-time when Andy Webster headed on a corner from Paul Hartley, but Kirk could not make any contact in front of goal and Marshall grabbed the ball.

Henrik Larsson came within inches of putting Celtic further ahead early in the second half when he just failed to connect with a Petrov free-kick.

But then came the equaliser from de Vries and Hearts clearly saw Celtic were vulnerable at the back.

Hearts went all out for all three points and a Hartley free-kick almost squeezed in but Marshall was alert enough to push it away for a corner.

The goalkeeper then denied de Vries in injury-time as Celtic held on for the point.
