Hearts chairman, George Foulkes today slapped a £5 million price tag on Scotland number one Keeper Craig Gordon in a bid to deter  potential teams who have noted a healthy interest in him.

Gordon, 23 who is playing at the top of his game for both club and country this season has been linked to Italian club Palermo. Foulkes was quick off his mark to place the hefty price tag on the young keeper, as table-topping Hearts, undefeated in 9 outings so far this term, look to keep their best players.

“Hearts are no longer a selling club” Foulkes added “Craig is in the middle of contract negotiations, rumours like this always raise when a player is in contractual talks. But there is no urgency is getting a new deal sorted out. We want to keep him and Craig wants to stay”

Chief Executive, Phil Anderton added “We are currently in the middle of contract negotiations with Craig Gordon over a new deal for him," he said. "There has been no approach from Palermo or anyone else for that matter but these types of stories always seem to surface when contract talks with a player are ongoing."
