Hearts Cort services of Carl.

Hearts are said to be on the tail of striker Carl Cort in a bid to boost their ailing attacking options. Cort, who has spent pre season at Wycombe Wanders, has been told by the Chairboys gaffer Peter Taylor that the club won't be signing him on a permanent basis.

The giant hit man has been plagued by injuries in a career which once saw Newcastle spend £7 million to secure his services. The 31 year old, capped by England at under 21 level, was at Norwich City last season.

There in no doubt if fully fit Cort would give the SPL defenders a hard time, and with decent service he could score a barrow load. The issue is that he's been struggling with injuries and do Hearts really need someone whose going to spend more time on the treatment table than on the pitch?

One thins for sure - whoever we do get to play for us upfront, they'll need to heel the advice of Calum Elliot and Andy Driver and avoid freak ankle injuries that keep them out of action!
