Mystery surrounds the club as rumours abound regarding the position of manager Jim Jefferies and assistant Billy Brown. More mystery was started when captain Marius Zaliukas was posted missing ahead of the 4-0 loss to Rangers at Ibrox yesterday. Jefferiesonly learned on the day that the player was unavailable. However, Jefferies was in no mood to clear the cloud of mystery after the game, saying only: "He wasn't available for selection - that's as much as I'm going to say on it." Asked if he will be back for Wednesday's visit of Celtic, Jefferies went on: "No idea."

Andy Webster and Lee Wallace both failed recover from injury ahead of the game and David Templeton and Adrian Mrowiec were both forced out during the game with hamstring and thigh strains respectively. Adding to Hearts' woes was the dismissal of Eggert Jonsson for a challenge on Nikica Jelavic, meaning he will be suspended for the game against Celtic. Jefferies said: "For me it was a bad decision to send Eggert Jonsson off. It was a tackle, it was a foul, but I don't think it was serious enough to warrant a red card. Then, it was just a matter of trying to keep things at bay at that time. I didn't slaughter any of my players after the game due to the team I had to put out today. They tried hard but unfortunately things conspired against us. The damage was done in the first half."
