Rudi SkacelRudi Skacel has returned to Tynecastle with a target of helping the side into the Europa League. he knows what it takes to win things with the club as he left for Southampton in a £1.6million deal after a successful season-long spell at Hearts which ended in the 2006 Scottish Cup success. After a four-year absence, he completed a return to Hearts yesterday on a one-year deal with a 12-month option, admitting he was "wrong" to depart after scoring 17 times in his first spell, including a goal in the Cup final against Gretna. The Czech Republic international, who is not expected to be part of the squad for Saturday's game with Inverness, now hopes to guide Hearts into Europe.

He said: "I feel confident that I can play good football here and we will see and hopefully the boys will help me and we can try and fly up the table and attack for the Europa League. I'm glad I'm back. I was very successful at Hearts, but I was young and at the time I trusted various people telling me it was the right time for me to go, but I was wrong. Now I want to put the past behind me and I am very happy that the club gave me another chance to show my best and restore my career. Motherwell has to be the target for me. I need a few days. We will see but I believe I will be ready."

Having last week played down suggestions Skacel, who was a free agent after leaving Greek club Larissa, was about to return, manager Jim Jefferies may not have had the final decision, with majority shareholder Vladimir Romanov sealing the deal. When asked if Skacel's deal was on his recommendation, Jefferies said: "I knew about it, yes. You're always looking to improve your squad and you're always looking to add quality players and that's what we've done."
