Former Jambos striker John Robertson has admitted he would be interested in talking to Hearts Owner Vladimir Romanov about a possible return to the Edinburgh club only days after being sacked by first division side Livingston.

Robertson was appointed Hearts Head Coach in 2004 when Romanov, who was in the process of completing his takeover, gave the nod to the appointment as he felt it would capture the fans imagination.

The former player told Talk 107 he would be interested in a return to the club in a coaching capacity, despite leaving the capital side in May 2005, after being offered a lesser role by the Hearts hierarchy.

He said at the time: "Everyone knows what the club means to me and it was a fantastic opportunity to come here. It hasn't left a bitter taste in my mouth".

Robertson spent 16 seasons with the club as a player, scoring 261 goals in the process and would no doubt be greeted with open arms by fans should Romanov choose to offer him a return to the club.

The hitman, who became known as 'The Fat Striker' during his playing days, holds God-like status among the Jambos faithful after notching an unprecedented 27 goals against arch-rivals Hibernian.
