Laryea Kingston insists he was forced to quit Hearts as he was not prepared to accept a pay cut. Kingston said that the club could only offer reduced terms to extend his Edinburgh stay. Kingston made a total of 14 SPL appearances for Hearts last term as the club finished sixth in the final table. The Ghana international was open to signing fresh terms, but was unwilling to reduce the conditions of his previous deal.

He said: "I don't think I am going to Hearts again. The team wants to bring their budget down so they asked me to bring my wages down. But I told them that is not possible so I have to leave. I have a couple of options so I am waiting for the best one."
