Mrowiec watch

Adrian MrowiecJim Jefferies will be assessing trialist Adrian Mrowiec in the club's upcoming pre-season games before making any decision about bringing him to Tynecastle. Mrowiec has already had a loan spell at Tynecastle, two seasons ago,  and Jefferies is interested in bringing him back again. The 26-year-old Polish defensive midfielder is still with FBK Kaunas and there would have to be a transfer fee involved if Jefferies decides Mrowiec could add something to his current squad. Jefferies has heard good things about Mrowiec following his time at Hearts and is looking forward to seeing him play.

Jefferies said: "
He was a Kaunas player on loan here and they took him back when he was injured and put him out to a club in Poland. Seemingly he did really well there and all the boys here told me he's a decent athlete. He is still attached to Kaunas and might be useful because he is big, strong and powerful and looks to me to be a bit more defensive minded in the middle of the park. But I'll wait until the games come around to make a decision. He looks fit but I won't judge him till we get into the games. I said we would have a look at him when the games started but he wanted to get himself fit so I said he could come with us to Italy. So far, he looks an athlete and has done very well in training. It's better to judge people when you see them in games, so that's what we'll do. I've heard he's played right-back and centre-forward for Hearts, but I'm looking at him in his best position. He likes to play as a solid, strong midfield player. He likes to get about people, win the ball and give it to people who can get forward. He's probably a similar type to Stefano Salvatori, getting about people, winning tackles and setting people on their way."

Because Mrowiec is contracted to FBK Kaunas, also financially supported by Vladimir Romanov's Ukio Bankas Investment Group, Jefferies does not feel under any pressure to make a decision. Jefferies said: "
There's no rush, he's a Kaunas player so that's an advantage but I just haven't seen him play yet. I've heard he's an honest type, hard-working who competes well and is a strong boy. You need a bit of strength in the SPL so he might be of benefit to us but we can't make that decision yet. We will take as long as we can."
