Keeper Gordon takes swipe at Romanov

Former Hearts keeper Craig Gordon has blasted Vladimir Romanov's running of the club, and insists it would take a "massive turnaround" to get the club back to the level it was two years ago.

The Scotland International recently moved to Sunderland for a fee of £9m and insists the decline of the club has left him heart broken.

Gordon told the Daily Mail "It really looked when Vladimir came in as if things would take off," said Gordon. "There is no saying it can't get back to that stage - but it would take a massive turnaround now".

"I wasn't just going in, training and going home. I was wondering what I could do to change things if I didn't think we were playing well, playing the wrong formation or not using our best players".

And the big Keeper insisted he tried all he could to help, but in the end felt compelled to leave the club he supported as a boy.

"This pre-season I was trying to say things, trying to help, but it felt like I was banging my head against a brick wall. It comes to a stage where you give up. I was very close to that stage."
