Jefferies expects him back before the end of the month, with the player facing a race against time to be fit for the March 20 Edinburgh derby.
Jefferies told the Edinburgh Evening News: "It's not going to be six weeks at all; he'll only be out for two or three.
"It's a small fracture of a small bone in his wrist so we don't think he will be missing for too long.
"Certainly not as long as six weeks; I'll be very surprised if it's as long as that."
