Hearts lose out to Wolves

A couple of hundred Wolves fans were at Tynecastle to see their side win 2-0 against  Hearts. Two goals in the first 20 minutes was their reward for travelling to Edinburgh on a fine night for football. This was Mick McCarthy`s Wolves' side first pre-season game in the UK.

Their first goal was scored in the fourth minute when Greg Halford fired home a free-kick after Kevin Doyle was brought down by Darren Barr. Halford was also involved in Wolves` second in the 18th minute, his long throw being met with a bullet header from Stephen Ward, while Doyle saw his shot hit the post in the 73rd minute. Three minutes later former Hearts hero Christophe Berra was given a great reception on his first return to Tynecastle after coming on as substitute.

All in all not the most pleasing way to see how Hearts are progressing in the preparations for the start of the season. Saturday sees Blackburn Rovers turn up and Jim Jefferies will want to see some lessons learnt from last night's game put into effect.
