Hearts boss upbeat over Goncalves

He has been out of action since December 30 but the Jambos boss has not ruled out a comeback for the visit of Saints on Saturday.

"Jose Goncalves was in Germany and he got two or three injections and we hope this will be the cure," Laszlo told Edinburgh Evening News.

"He had a scan and you can see from this that he had a small problem with his muscle.

"It was important not to force him to train because then you create a bigger problem. I hope he will be okay but I can't be 100% sure."

Lee Wallace should return on Saturday after recovering from a heel injury, while Jason Thomson is set to resume training after struggling with hamstring and back problems.

Meanwhile, Laszlo has told his players they cannot afford to feel sorry for themselves following their Active Nation Scottish Cup exit to Aberdeen.

And the Jambos boss is expecting a positive response when SPL action resumes this weekend.

He told Hearts News: "Definitely, Saturday's result was not acceptable for us. We wanted to be in the next round of the cup but we fly out too early.

"We cannot feel sorry for ourselves. Our focus must now be on this Saturday when we go looking for points against St Mirren.

"We have done well in recent weeks to get ourselves into the top six. That was our target at the start of the season and now we have to keep building on this.

"We are halfway through the season so there are many points still to play for.

"We have to keep working hard for results and I want us to make up for our cup disappointment with a good one on Saturday."
