Gordon denies Hearts slur

Former Hearts keeper Craig Gordon is said to be upset at stories attributed to him in the press slating Vladimir Romanov's running of the club.

Reports in the News Of The World suggested Gordon blamed Romanov for Hearts fall from grace after the early part of the 2005/06 season as well as laying into Eduard Malofeev, and Romanov's new age therapies, including the mysterious black box.

But Gordon has contacted Romanov to straighten things out, insisting he would never publicly slate the club he supported as a child.

Romanov had released a statement on heartsfc.co.uk on Tuesday responding to the article, where he said "I am sure that a man who proudly captained Hearts, and who was in the team that successfully fought for Champions League qualification and lifted the Scottish Cup, would not talk about his former club in such a tone".
