| The chance to get into second place slipped through the fingers on Saturday as Aberdeen secured a 0-0 draw. However, with third place all but secured, Jim Jefferies refused to be too downbeat. A win on Saturday would have seen the Jambos overtake Rangers for a day but instead the result means they are a point behind the Ibrox side who have two games in hand after beating St Johnstone on Sunday. Jefferies, whose side have won nine of their 13 league games away from home this season, said: "When I shook hands with Craig Brown at the end we said it was a fair result. They were the better side in the first half but, after a few choice words at half-time, we were better in the second half. Our record is fantastic away from home and you can't win every game. There was always going to be somewhere that we would get a draw and we would probably accepted that given the amount of players we had out. We were playing a side that are very well organised and contesting for the top six again. This was always going to be a difficult game and the surface made it even harder. At the end of the day we have come away with a point and we are happy with that as it was a fair result." Jefferies lavished praise on goalkeeper Marian Kello who produced a couple of excellent saves during the game to ensure his side left Pittodrie with a point. He said: "There are other good goalkeepers in the league but he is up there with the best of them. His save to keep out Sone Aluko's shot was magnificent. He deals with everything comfortably and for me he is a top keeper." |
