Tynecastle...

128 years ago, a wee fitba team playing at the meadows in Edinburgh called Heart of Midlothian. This team looked pretty impressive to a few of Edinbugh's gentry. These gentlemen decided to build a purpose built stadium for the followers of the great Hearts FC football team. 10 years later, Tynecastle stadium was born. This great footballing arena was considered at the time one of the best atmosphere generating venues in the country. It still is in some quarters, although the all-seater stadia rules have somewhat diminished the crowd atmosphere.

But I will take you back 15 years, when Tynecastle looked(and to a extent WAS) an old clapped out crumbling building. BOY! did this wee stadium make some noise! Big matches were especially vocal, jist ask most supporters where the best ground was for atmpsphere.

The shed. That was one of the corners where most Hearts fans stood inderneath the shelter. (Most of Tynecastle was NOT under shelter!) and the majority of the singing began there. You could hear the singing from miles around, you would think there was 50,000 people in the ground whereas there probably only around 20,000! But The fans are so close to the pitch, a noise was easily attainable.

Big games - Hearts v Bayern Munich. Tuesday 28th February 1989. Almost 26,000 Hearts fans sung their arses off all night. Then a touch of absolute magic from midfielder Iain Ferguson scored a peach of a free kick sending the entire stadium delirious.

Now - Our esteemed CEO Mr Chris Robinson has took it upon himselves and his servants to sell Tynecastle stadium to housing developers CALA homes for £22million. Hearts debt currently stands at £18.1million. 3 seasons to play at Murrayfield until the powers to be at Hearts can find a viable alternative. But with no plan B, Hearts fans are up in arms(and rightly so) as the possibility of being 'No Hearts' becomes an increasing reality.

LONG LIVE HEARTS!!!!
