Institutionalised Hatred of Hearts

Last updated : 26 March 2006 By Stewart Morrison

Any Sunday newspaper today confirmed what the majority of Hearts fans think of the Scottish media. The tabloid bandwagon has been in full swing this week, after Hearts owner Vladimir Romanov sacked Hearts' 2nd manager this season. “Hearts in turmoil” “More trouble at Tynecastle” “Has Bad Mad Vlad finally lost it” were the headlines of the week.

Ask any Hearts supporter of their views of Rix. 99% of them will indeed confirm Hearts have a far better chance of finishing second without him at the helm. Me included.

As Hearts overcame a physical Falkirk side yesterday, you'd think the media hounds would hand it to Hearts that they overcame the ‘turmoil' of the past few days, and hand the team a certain degree of gratitude.

Nope. Not the ‘Weejie Meejia'. No chance. Today's headlines were more of the ‘only beat Falkirk 2-1' ‘Rudi is a cheat' ‘Ivanauskis is hard for the press to deal with'. Not a smidgen of gratitude for the Hearts.

The media have moaned for years that there is not enough competition to face the duopoly of the Old Firm. Hearts have given them this and appear to have upset the applecart. How dare anyone outside Glasgow have a go at the gruesome twosome? Well lads, we are here to stay so get used to it.

So, we are on our own. That's just the way we like it. Who cares what these jobsworth kiddy-on journalists think? Keep yer Andy Walkers and yer Chick Youngs.

No-one likes us, but we don't give a shit!
